who knows where the time goes......

i was thinking today about milestones in our lives, and how many or most of them occur when we're younger. i spend a lot of time observing my kid, and have noted the significant milestones ... crawling, walking, speaking, reading, swimming... and in the last couple of days: riding a bike without training wheels. all of these milestones seem to be steps towards freedom and independence... no longer will they need me beside them as the pedal along. isn't that we all crave? independence and freedom?

i like to ride my bike(s). i even enter the occasional race in my attempts to cling to the last remaining strings of youth. i like to think it keeps me fit... for next year, i'm considering entering a stage race, where the race has separate stages for consecutive days - in this case, 3 days. there are longer such races around the world - 7 or more days. i might consider that one day, before i get too old.

i celebrated my birthday last week - i'm now well into my 5th decade.... i'm not get younger, but i'm still only halfway to 'old'.

i just re-read this entry... so random, so jumpy... just like me...
